Jesus, "Give me your Burdens"

One month ago I was in San Diego visiting my sister and nieces.  When it was time to go to sleep I moved from my niece’s bed to sleep on the living room floor. That's when it happened.  Jesus came to me! Just as I was relaxing into sleep, yet still aware, I saw and felt a soft healing light come down all around my upper body, from my head down past my heart. Jesus was right next to me leaning towards me and said,” Give me your burdens – I will take them from you.  See me as your closest friend - always with you, and give your burdens to me.” I knew what was happening was profound - I knew Jesus!  I said. “I love you and you're here with me!  Thank you for helping me heal my pain.”  I was able to let go of some of the pain in my heart, but I wasn’t clear how to give him all of it.  I remember smiling as I fell asleep in his presence. When I woke up in the morning, my sister, Michelle, was having coffee and we were talking about a song, when I remembered it and blurted out, “I had an experience of Jesus last night!  He came to me – right here!!  I pointed to the floor right behind me.  Of course, we were both excited and we talked, prayed and listened to a worship song my sister wanted to share with me!

I had a flight to catch back to Seattle and my sister was going to make a round trip drive to Santa Barbara to get my brother Carlos and bring him back to San Diego the same day.  So, we both took off in different directions.  Here is where the story becomes even more miraculous – at least in my world.  The next night, when it was time for Carlos to go to bed, he fell asleep on the couch in the living room. The next morning he points to a book on the shelf and asks Michelle to get it for him.  He opened the book right to a picture and paused.  Michelle asked him if he knew who that was in the picture, and he said, “Yes, it’s Jesus.” Michelle responded, “How do you know it’s Jesus?”  He answered, "Because he came to me last night.”  Michelle asked, “Where?” “Right here on the couch,” Carlos said.  Michelle asked what happened, and Carlos said, “Jesus told me that he loves me.”

For those of you who don’t know my brother…Carlos is autistic – he does not read, needs 24/7 care and he was diagnosed with an illness that nearly took his life about four months ago.  My sister’s love and care has brought him back to a level of health we thought we would never see again.  It will take time for our family to integrate Jesus visiting two of us within 24 hours.  I experienced that Jesus is really here with all of us and wants us to give him our burdens; and wants us to open up to feel his love for us.
